This article offers a thematic overview of emerging risks and opportunities shaping the insurance industry, with a particular emphasis on the Middle East and Lebanon.

It synthesizes critical insights on health trends, medical inflation, climate risk, and cyber resilience — all of which are becoming increasingly relevant for insurers and actuaries navigating an evolving risk landscape.

Several ideas explored throughout the article are inspired by discussions and presentations delivered during recent professional events, including the conference organized by the Lebanese Association of Actuaries (LAA) on May 30, 2025.

Regional (MENA and GCC) and global benchmarks and practices have been examined to provide a broader context. The aim is not only to highlight pressing challenges, but also to propose forward-looking strategies that support innovation, risk mitigation, and enhanced resilience across the industry.
