Dr. Jihad Faitrouni, a university lecturer in the field of risk and CEO of UIS Insurance, was interviewed by Al Emirates News, he stressed the importance of addressing some of the challenges associated with the new decision, including lack of experience and increased risks, as he stated that young people at this age of 17 may not have enough maturity to deal with risks on the road, which may increase traffic accidents, and challenge social pressure and impulsiveness.
He said: “This group of age can face social pressures to carry out dangerous practices, such as racing or driving at excessive speed, as well as the challenge of affecting the environment, as the decision may contribute to increasing the use of cars and air pollution as more drivers enter the roads, and despite the positives, qualifying young people and ensuring the availability of good training and safety standards remains necessary to reduce the potential negatives.”
